The Gunners' boss feels assured that his side can continue to cope with player absences following confirming that star striker Kai Havertz remains out for the coming weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for German Star

The German forward has been out since August after undergoing an operation on his knee. Hoped to return sooner, Arteta revealed the player faced a hurdle when stepping up his training and was unable to move forward “the required stage.”

“Our experience helped us build a team that is considerably steadier and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

“History has shown us that we need to utilize players in alternative spots, and they need to be prepared to perform various functions if we aim to challenge at the highest level. And the example of Mikel Merino.”

Speaking about the setback noted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, the manager gave more insight. “He was doing everything. He was unable to progress to the required step and now it appears like we have unlocked that.”

The manager conveyed his eagerness to welcome him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. I mean, it’s a player that, for me, I value highly for his contributions to the team, but his character, his attitude. I observe his frustration on the sidelines.”
