Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

Upon entering the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source also disputed several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

The source also pushed back against circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction includes reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
