Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
