Los Angeles witnessed citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-game World Series championship. Fans worldwide joined local residents in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved consecutive championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations featured a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Online footage show thousands of Angelenos flooding city center avenues, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The team was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the championship trophy proudly.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route ended at the stadium, where the team emerged to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Celebrations started prior to the parade, with supporters lighting flares in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented directly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” he stated. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
In contrast, Mark Walter received a less warm reception at the rally. Recordings from the event seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a mix of applause and boos, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The World Series served as a positive moment in what has been a challenging year for the city. An estimated 225,000 people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, fans this year showed as much if not more support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
