The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It features our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track from the official score of the same name, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic choice, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its inclusion.

But for me, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and energy that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager before that, or want a head start to get to know the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
